Well, Lucky started her treatment today... shes still a little woozy and has a single stitch from the biopsy on the biggest of her three new tumors. Her spirits aren't entirely down, but she definitely doesn't like having to take so much medication. She begins her treatment in full on Monday where she will be enrolled in a clinical trial at CSU's School of Veterinary Medicine. The trial is to compare the effectiveness of two different drugs, Palladia and vinblastine. Both have proven success rates in reduction of this type of cancer... I'll post the specific kind soon with some more details. She has been chosen as a vinblastine which is a (unfotunately) intravenous chemotherapy treatment. Palladia is an oral treatment. However there is a bright side in that other than a few (relatively low) costs, the treatment is paid for by the study. That's not to say that today wasn't expensive... and each visit has a checkup fee tagged on... but at least its not the thousands and thousands of dollars I would normally have to pay for treatment.
